Technology

The aim of the ICT (Information Communications Technology) program at Spring Gully is to provide children from Grade Prep to Grade 6 with access to a range of technologies they can use to research, create and communicate with.

Our grade 6 students are lucky enough to be a part of the Loddon Mallee 1:1 Netbook Trial. This program enables each students in grade 6 to have their own netbook (laptop) that they take home with them and use each day at school.

Desktop PC computers are located in every classroom in the school. As well as these, senior classes have access to a 'class set' of netbooks and junior classes have access to a lab of desktop computers. There are also 'pods' of computers with 6 computers in each.

We currently have 10 Interactive Whiteboards spread across the 3 areas of the school- junior, middle and upper. Staff and students have access to a class set of ipods, 2 video cameras and several didgital cameras to assist them with their classwork.

Students in the senior classes have recently commenced the NikeRun program using the ipods. Students are able to track their exercise over a period of time and graph this information using the NikeRun website combined with iTunes.

Students in grades 4-6 are currently enrolled in the safe kids online learning community www.superclubsplus.com.au Using this website students learn about cybersafety, webpage creation, use of forums and emails and much more.

Students in several classes also have access to the online learning website www.mathletics.com. Here, students compete against other students from around the world on maths drills. They also complete units of work set by the teacher.

Students and parents are required to sign the  Acceptable Internet Use Policy (PDF, 326kb) and ICT Behaviour Management Plan (PDF, 44kb) before accessing the computers.
