Spring Gully Primary School has a Religious Education Program entitled 'Religion for Life' for all students Grades Prep - 6.

The program is designed for Victorian schools and relates to the other activities of the children. It helps them consider their own lives while giving some understanding of religious life and ideas of this community.

The program does not presume all children are Christians, but it will inform them of what Christians believe and will help them understand the religious aspects they see in our Australian society.

These weekly lessons of 30 minutes are taught on the normal classroom basis by volunteers from the churches that are trained and accredited by the Council of Christian Education in Schools, including a police record check and approved by the Minister of Education.

Attendance at Religious Education is not compulsory for students whose parents request that they be excused from attending. Unless or until parents request that their child/children do not receive Religious Education, students will receive Religious Education in accordance with the agreed syllabus.

The material used is educationally based and attractively presented. The normal cost for 2009 is $5.00 for the full year's program, however this year the Spring Gully Lutheran Church has kindly offered to pay for all materials. There will be no charge for Religious Education in 2009.
